Inquiring Minds Ottawa is a new initiative of the Ottawa Museum Network. Our mandate is to provide educational resources in the form of artefacts, experts and experiences to our visitors. The museums of the Ottawa Museum Network are fascinating, educationally rich environments that engage students in exploration and discovery.

The concept

Inquiring Minds Ottawa is based on the successful Open Minds concept, established in Calgary in 1993. The Open Minds concept has been successfully established in St John’s, Newfoundland; Vancouver, British Columbia; Edmonton, Alberta; London, Ontario; Lansing, Michigan; Leeds, England; and Singapore.

Inquiring Minds Ottawa provides opportunities for teachers to move their classroom into the community for an entire week. The experience encourages inquiry-based learning, problem solving and new approaches to critical thinking for students as they interact with artefacts and experts at each site.
